About Us
The Queensland Highland Pipers Society is dedicated to fostering excellence, participation, and community in the Scottish pipe band tradition. We exist to organise, support, and promote high‑quality piping and drumming competitions in Brisbane, and throughout Queensland, while encouraging the growth, education, and appreciation of these musical arts for current and future generations.
Our Story
Donald MacKinnon was instrumental in forming the Queensland Highland Pipers’ Society (1965) ‘to promote a spirit of fraternity among pipers’ as he put it. MacKinnon was a noted piper and teacher who had a significant impact on the Queensland piping community after moving to Brisbane.
